Finding focus

I had a lot of surprises at the end of 2009, and most of them weren’t great. I’ve been thinking a lot about what direction to take with the blog, and I’m looking for suggestions.

The wide focus of this blog is personal development for creative types (I’m a writer). What types of posts would you like to see along those lines?

I’m also looking to set up a posting schedule, focusing on certain topics or types of posts on a regular schedule.

I’m looking for some ideas and suggestions. What kinds of things would be helpful for you as we kick off the new year?

  1. What to write about suggestion:

At bottom, both atheists and Deists alike are actually agnostics. That is, if we can get people to admit that they don’t REALLY know, that is the one common base all human beings share.

Unfortunately, even though at base, everyone knows that he or she doesn’t know for sure, everyone seems to have to throw emotion into the mix and choose either to be an active emotional agent for God or an active emotional agent for no-God.

It is that sense of having to choose based on what is called faith that ruins everything, and is the cause of infinite hatreds.

If we could just get all people to admit that at bottom they are agnostic and have only hope for either eternity or oblivion, whichever is most pleasing to the personality involved, we would be 50% closer to world peace.

So, what I would like to suggest is that we start the Admitting We Don’t Really Know Whether Their Is A God Or Not Church. For short, we can call it the AWDRKWHIAGON Church.

If we could just take that one step, then as a second agenda we could then tell everyone that they can believe what they wish, hope for what they wish, worship as they wish, but in the meantime, until we know for sure, everyone can stop blowing everyone else up, and doing things in the name of religion or atheism that are really really absurd.

So, as a writer, that’s what I would like to see you write about, over and over again in various forms until everyone gets that one point.

If you can do that, you will be my hero, and certainly it is a more useful topic than writing about fly fishing.

  2. Hey, that’s an interesting suggestion by previous poster. Although I am inclined to agree that at the bottom, pretty much everyone is indeed agnostic.

Anyways, it seems like I am in the same boat as you, as my self improvement site currently deals with a variety of topics, and I am thinking of narrowing down its focus to fewer areas, and trying to decide which. Good luck!
